There had been circulated copies of an application for the grant of a Premises License. Mr Wynne, Licensing Standards and Enforcement Officer, advised that the application was in respect of premises which were operated as a convenience store/ shop situated in the residential estate of Langlee, Galashiels  The proposal was to sell alcohol on an Off-sale basis only and was within policy and no objections had been received.

The Convener welcomed the Applicant Mr Richard Garrie and Director Mr Angus Towers to the meeting, who explained that they had been in the retail business for 30 years and had shops in Peebles, Selkirk and Galashiels.  The application was in response to customer requests for alcohol to be sold.

 

DECISION

AGREED to grant a provisional premises licence to Adam Purves Retail Ltd.

There had been circulated copies of an application for the grant of a Premises License.  Mr Wynne, Licensing Standards and Enforcement Officer, advised that the applicant had a vast experience and had outgrown their current premises.  The application was within policy and no objections had been received.

The Convener welcomed the Co-Owner, Mr Alan Walker to the meeting, who explained that the Licence was to sell products produced within the Distillery and a small amount of wine.

Question 6 – Children and Young Persons

Change terms of entry to read – Children accompanied by a responsible /appropriate adult for any golfing or other sporting purpose, dining or attending a pre-arranged private function. Young persons for the same purpose, but without the requirement of being accompanied.  Note – For the avoidance of doubt a responsible/appropriate adult is a person who has the responsibility for the child when attending the premises.  The adult should supervise the child at all times while the child is within the licensed area;

Change ages to read – Children 0 to 15 years and Young Persons 16 & 17 years

Change times of access to read – Children and Young Persons when attending for a sporting purpose or dining until 10.00pm

There had been circulated copies of an application for the variation of a Premises License.  Mr Wynne, Licensing Standards and Enforcement Officer, advised that the premises had been operating for a number of years.  The application was in relation to some minor additions, which were within policy and no objections had been received. 

The Convener welcomed Caroline Loudon, Solicitor, TLT Solicitors to the meeting, who explained that Aldi had acquired the adjoining garage plot to expand the store and undertake a store upgrade.  There would be new chillers fitted and additional isles, whilst retaining the rear of the store for alcohol.  Aldi continued to support the local communities, supplying Kelso Larder, Lauder Larder and The Recharge Café.

 

DECISION

AGREED to grant variation to a premises licence to Aldi Stores Limited.
