Results of Consultation

Report to follow.

Minutes:

2.1     With reference to paragraph 4.3 of the Minute of 9 August, Philippa Gilhooly presented the results of the Citizen Space online and paper survey on parking charges in East Station and Kingsmeadows car park.  The report was to be appended to this Minute.  The survey had received 1786 responses of which 1015 were from an EH45 postcode (57%).  On the question of when drivers should be charged for parking in East Station car park, 77% were in favour of the current regime of one day (Saturday).  On the question of the introduction of parking charges at Kingsmeadows car park, 77% of respondents were not in favour.  The opinion of the Peebles Civic Society representative was noted. Consequently it was agreed that no changes be made to the current off-street parking regime at East Station car park and no charges were to be introduced at Kingsmeadows.  There followed a brief discussion on the proposed parking charge pilot at Innerleithen whereby drivers were to be invited to contribute to the local community via a QR code in lieu of standardised parking charges.

DECISION

AGREED the following recommendations:-

(a)        no change to the current off-street parking regime in East Station car park; and

(b)       no introduction of parking charges at Kingsmeadows car park.
